Cake!!!!!

Hello all, thought I would blog about one of my favourite subjects today....CAKE!!!!
I have been thinking a lot about cake this week as I have been making some flavoured sugars...to use in cup-cake making, I think Father Christmas may be bringing a few of my relatives flavoured sugars for Christmas too.....
So far I have made vanilla sugar flavoured with a whole vanilla pod, lavender sugar with a few sprigs of lavender and rosemary sugar flavoured with....well I am sure you can work that one out!!!! Nigella Lawson does a rosemary cake so I thought I would give it a try!!!

Here is a lemon and geranium flavoured cup cake I bought as a treat for myself!!! And yummy it was too!!!!!!
This year I have also crystallized primroses.....
and beautiful little violets.............
All wrapped in grease proof paper in jars ready to decorate cakes along with a few rose petals....the rose petals were wonderful, a little blast of crispy rosiness......

This was a batch of cup cakes I made .........
I used an old 1950's piping gadget and I think they turned out quite good for my first attempt!!!!With beautiful multi-coloured miniature hundred and thousands...,.
And last but not least another treat...a shop bought pink vision of rosy loveliness ......on a rosy plate of course!!!
Yum......bloomin........YUM!!!!!!!
Living by the sea I have a steady stream of visitors during the summer holiday, during which I find it quite hard to find the time to blog everyday, but I have a bit of a gap coming this week...(I still have three sets of visitors to come before the holidays end) and I have a 14 th birthday barb q party on the beach to organise, and a big gert gooey chocolate birthday cake to make!! But I hope to squeeze in a bit of treasure hunting over the next few days....so keep em peeled!!!! x x x x

  1. Oooooh you have one of my most favourite of cupcakes! Are they from waitrose? I have to go out of my way to get to one to get that cupcake! Cherry and geranium is my absolute fave! ( I even have a pic of one in my sidebar!!!!) The geranium flavour really stays on the palette. I have been trying to look up if you can get geranium oil so I can make my own but no success. I love the idea of rosemary sugar, that's a new one on me! I have lavender and vanilla home made sugars at home, but my favourite is cinnamon sugar. I have a thing for cinnamon and it goes great in baking, coffee, cereal and porridge.
Nothing beats a lovely cake on a nice plate with a steaming hot cuppa! It must take you ages to pick a nice plate to put it on from your rather gorgeous china collection! I like you cupcakes you made, they look really scrummy. Have a great time eating them! Have a fab day! big hugs Vanessa xxxx

  2. yes its from Waitrose!!! I have a store in my town so I am lucky....i bought a lavender cupcake from there last time but it was very very restrained , maybe you could put a few geranium leaves or flower petals into some sugar to flavour the sugar?????? i thought i would have a play about with the rosemary sugar ..maybe lemon and rosemary?? i will have to do a cinnamon one do you use ground cinnamon or a stick???? wonder if you could use mint??? my mind is whirling now!!LOL!!
I make cinnamon buns all the time they are so lush!!!!!!!!! i add cinnamon to everything!!!!!!
have a job lot of china waiting to arrive from my mum and i have to collect a few lots from the auction tomorrow so keep an eye out!! i am trying to work up the courage to do a stall!!!
