Two years!!!

Two years ago when we packed up all our belongings in a van and moved down to Devon, where we didn't know a soul , we didn't realise what a roller coaster ride it would be.
Although it has been hard leaving behind family and friends we wanted to fulfil our dream of living by the sea....
Living by the sea is wonderful and the last two years has been amazing.....from....
fish and chips on the beach.....................
watching my grandchildren play on the beach...........
Mucking about in the water.............
taking the Sunday papers onto the beach............
the long hikes over the cliffs................
the stormy winter beach walks..............
the sunny calm days...............................
the summer holidays which bring long heavy sunny days....and friends and family flocking......
the festivals where people dance in the street and in the river!!!.......

family days with picnics ...............

Poppy has had a fantastic time making friends becoming more independent and meeting up on the beach............
days spent having fun, fun. fun................
a grandchild's first ever visit to the sea-side......................
we seen some strange sights............like these thousands of star fish washed up on the beach............
there is always somewhere to go for a stroll....................
and we've done some pretty crazy things like this Boxing Day swim in December!!!
Poppy and The Better Half have learnt to sail.....while I watched from the balcony of the sailing club with vino!!!
We've seen snow at the sea-side!!!!!
and carnivals..............
and had fishing trips.................
walks around marinas.......
gone rock pooling...................
And fallen in love with the sea at winter........its so beautiful and powerful
Happily friends are always eager to visit and two of my grown up children are planning to move down to join us now they have seen how lovely it is here , bringing some of my grandchildren with them.....and for the others ...its great to have a nanny that lives by the sea!!!!!

But for me the greatest thing about living by the sea......everyday the light, the sea and the atmosphere is different, you go to the front and are continually surprised.....sometimes is calm when you thought it would be rough and sometimes its rough when you thought it would be calm......there is always somewhere to go....and something to see.....swimming in the sea is fantastic....and putting your feet up , closing your eyes and listening to the waves lap on the shore.....well all your troubles seem to disappear!

  5. Oh it looks so stunning! On our recent holiday my OH was showing me where he grew up, and he went to school in Woolacombe, then moved further inland to the rolling hills - one day I hope to do the same!
