A work in progress......

I have finally finished the first corner of my poppy tablecloth...it's my first major embroidery project.

I chose poppies because apart from being one of my favourite flowers its also what I called my youngest daughter..

I do miss red poppies though....all the poppies in Sidmouth are yellow and I have no idea why, i am presuming it has something to do with the soil. I have seen a few red ornamental poppies in peoples gardens but all the wild ones are yellow or at most a very pale orange.........
I have already started my second corner and already I can tell a difference...my embroidery is much finer and neater on the second corner....infact when I look at the first corner I think its pretty bad...and want to do it all over again!!! It's going to be a long project, I have another  three corners to go...but when I have finished it I plan to sign it and put the date in one corner, I am hoping it will become a family heirloom and that  Poppy will one day pass it down to her children x

  1. Its gorgeous. I love Poppies too!
Yes I noticed a lot of yellow poppies in when we lived in Sidmouth! I think the yellow ones are called Icelandic Poppy, and the red ones are Flanders Poppy
